The stage is set in McCrae, Victoria for one of the most spectacular, most sensationally extravagant Australian Championships for the Hobie Cat Class we have seen Down Under (let alone all around the world) for a very long time.
The Hobie Cat Association of Victoria are rapt to confirm the Hobie All Stars band are returning with a reinvigorated line-up of performers, set to hit the mainstage on New Years Eve. With Rowdy Boys leading the show, new edition to the band, Michael Taylor, is ready and set to be on bass, whilst some of the favourites from the 50th Hobie Cat Nationals are set to return. McCrae are going to be throwing one helluva party for the Hobie Family, and it’s one that’s not to be missed!
How could it be a Victorian Hobie Regatta if there weren’t some awesome beach games? Rowdy’s keeping his circle small, as he remains tight lipped on his infamous beach games. However, one can rest assured there’ll be plenty of fun for all those in attendance, sailor or not.
We’re also excited to announce the possibility of a Hobie Wave Challenge. In the event the Nationals gets blown out on any day, along with the lay-day on January 1st, McCrae are set to have the cobwebs well and truly blown off the their fleet of Hobie Waves.
Finally, the reigning champions of the State of Supremacy Trophy, Team NSW, have set a new challenge for this year’s Australian Championships. The State with the lowest combined point score of their top-5 boats will be awarded the State of Supremacy. This will be inclusive for all fleets throughout Series One & Two.
NOTE: To all sailors racing, the competitors briefing for Series One is at 8:30am on the 28th December, and Series Two is 8:30am on the 2nd January.
